  • 1. State Insurance Commissioner:

    The mission of the Mississippi Insurance Department is to impartially enforce the laws and regulations enumerated in Mississippi Code Ann. Section 83-1-1 et seq., thereby creating an environment conducive to a competitive marketplace for the sale of insurance products and services while providing the State’s citizens with the maximum amount of consumer protection. Our aim is to create the highest degree of economic security, quality of life, public safety and fire protection for the State’s citizens at the lowest possible cost.

    2. State Medical Board:

    The mission of the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure is to ensure the protection of the health, safety and welfare of Mississippians through implementation and enforcement of laws involving the licensing and regulation of physicians, podiatrists, physician assistants and radiology assistants and through the objective enforcement of the Mississippi Medical Practice Act.

    3. State Minority Office:

    The Office of Health Disparity Elimination performs research and education on unequal access to quality health care and strives to eliminate such disparities across the state.

    Midwives Alliance of Mississippi – We formed our group to support midwifery, the increase of available midwives to the public, and the families that seek to use the services of midwives.

    7. State Healthy Start or Associated Improved Pregnancy Program/Director’s email:

    MSDH provides maternity services statewide to women through county health departments, targeting pregnant women with incomes at or below 185 percent of the Federal Poverty Level.

    The goal of this program is to reduce low birth weight, infant and maternity mortality and morbidity. Approximately 30 percent of the women who give birth in Mississippi receive their prenatal care in county health departments.
