Nevada State Resources:

1. State Insurance Commissioner:

The mission of the Division of Insurance is twofold: to protect the rights of Nevada consumers in their experiences with the insurance industry and to ensure the financial solvency of insurers.

2. State Medical Board:

The Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners serves the State of Nevada by ensuring that only well-qualified, competent physicians, physician assistants, and respiratory therapists receive licenses to practice in Nevada. The Board responds with expediency to complaints against our licensees by conducting fair, complete investigations that result in appropriate action.

3. State Minority Office:

The mission of the Nevada Office of Minority Health is to improve the quality of health care services for members of minority groups; and to increase access to health care services; to seek ways to provide education, address, treat and prevent diseases and conditions that are prevalent among minority populations.

4. State Nursing Board:

The Nevada State Board of Nursing (the board) is the state agency which licenses, regulates and disciplines the practice of Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Advanced Practitioners of Nursing (APNs) and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).

The mission of the Nevada State Board of Nursing is protecting the public’s health, safety and welfare through the effective regulation of nursing.

5. State Midwifery Organization:

The number of direct entry midwives in Nevada is unknown, but midwives practice openly in many of the more heavily populated areas of the state. Direct entry midwives are generally treated respectfully by government and medical agencies and personnel. Ther are no free-standing birth centers or midwifery schools in the state. All direct entry midwives in Nevada have homebirth practices. All CNMs practice in the hospital setting.
